The Brazilian paper industry is actively investing in the coating technology. As a result, Metso Paper's chemical handling and water management unit Valmet-Raisio has received several orders for this technology.

Ripasa S.A. Celulose e Papel placed an order for a new coating color kitchen, a rebuild of the supply system and a new ultrafiltration recovery system for their PM 1. The Ripasa mill is located in Americana, São Paulo, in Southeast Brazil. The new kitchen will have a capacity of 124 t/day (dry solids). This is a turn-key delivery, and the kitchen will be up and running by the end of June 2002.

The delivery includes all Valmet-Raisio key equipment, such as the OptiMixer, OptiScreens, the FlexCom automation system, ColorMat on-line measurement systems and the OptiCycle ultrafilter. The investment is enabling Ripasa S.A. Celulose e Papel to prepare their PM1 for grade change.

Votorantim Celulose e Papel has placed an order for an extension of the coating color kitchen. The mill is situated in Piracicaba, São Paulo, in Southeast Brazil. The original coating color kitchen was delivered by Valmet-Raisio in 1997-1998. The delivery includes pigment handling, an OptiAir deaeration unit and extension of the FlexCom automation system. Commissioning will take place by the end of 2001.

Madereira Miguel Forte has placed an order for a coating color kitchen. The mill is situated in União de Victoria, Parana, in South-east Brazil. The delivery includes the basic engineering for the coating color kitchen and an OptiMixer and OptiScreens. The delivery will take place in December 2001.
