Letter of intent signed for the outsourcing of Metso Paper Jyväskylä plate fabrication shop

The negotiations for the outsourcing of Metso Paper Jyväskylä plate fabrication shop have resulted in signing of a letter of intent with the Finnish Konepaja Häkkinen Oy on February 4, 2004. According to the letter of intent, the ownership of the plate fabrication shop will be transferred to Konepaja Häkkinen in May/June 2004. The personnel, comprising 129 persons, will transfer to the new owner under the same terms as they are currently employed.

Konepaja Häkkinen Oy, founded in 1980, is a Finnish company with production facilities in Raisio and Tikkakoski, Finland. It specializes in sub-supplying machining work for the heavy metal industry in the Nordic countries.

The outsourcing of Jyväskylä plate fabrication shop is a consequence of the guidelines of Metso Paper strategy as well as the changing world market situation.
