Nov 20, 2017

Valmet has received Sofidel’s Suppliers Sustainability Award for Best Supplier in the Procurement & Purchasing Category. Valmet received the award in an award ceremony held in London on November 9, 2017.

The annual award is presented by the Italian tissue production group to its suppliers who have distinguished themselves in their efforts towards environmental and social sustainability. This is the second year Sofidel is awarding its suppliers. This year, nearly 400 suppliers from Europe and North America took part in the awards.

Best Supplier awards are given to companies who receive the highest score in the “TenP – Sustainable Supply Chain Self-Assessment Platform” created by Global Compact Network Italy (GCNI) Foundation. The platform is based on the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. The platform considers companies’ sustainability performance in the areas of human rights, labor conditions, environment and anti-corruption. The companies’ performance is evaluated by how clear and formalized its commitment to sustainability is, its commitment to certifications as well as existence of sustainability policies and management and accountability practices.

For Valmet, sustainability has been embedded into its strategy implementation and operations giving Valmet real competitive edge. Valmet's comprehensive Sustainability360º agenda focuses on five core areas: sustainable supply chain; health, safety and environment; people and performance; sustainable solutions, and corporate citizenship.

Valmet received the award in a ceremony held in London on November 9, 2017."Many thanks to Sofidel for this award! We are very happy to receive this recognition from our customer for our commitment to sustainable operations. Supplier sustainability is one of the key aspects in our sustainability strategy too.
