Valmet to supply automation and solids measurements to Tampere region’s central wastewater treatment plant in Finland

Valmet will supply automation and solids measurements to the new regional central wastewater treatment plant, which is under construction in Tampere’s Sulkavuori in Finland. With modern wastewater treatment solutions, the plant can stabilize the sludge, treat wastewater more efficiently and meet the environmental criteria also in the future.

The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the third quarter 2021. The order will be commissioned during 2025.

Technical details about the delivery

Valmet's delivery includes a Valmet DNA automation and information management system, Valmet Total Solids Measurements (Valmet TS), Valmet Low Solids Measurements (Valmet LS), and Valmet Dry Solids Measurements (Valmet DS). Additionally, the delivery includes field engineering and instrumentation, factory acceptance testing, automation system installation, commissioning, and training.

Information about the customer

The new wastewater treatment plant using the latest treatment technologies will be implemented in Tampere, Finland as a joint project of several municipalities. The participating municipalities are Kangasala, Lempäälä, Pirkkala, Tampere, Vesilahti, and Ylöjärvi. The construction of the Sulkavuori central wastewater treatment plant started in 2018 and it will be commenced in 2025. The aim is to reduce the load placed on the discharge water system, even when the volume of treated water will increase.
