Valmet to supply anti-surge and load-sharing control for Nyagangazpererabotka's gas compressing process in Western Siberia

Valmet Oyj's trade press release on January 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. EET

Valmet will supply anti-surge and load-sharing control for Nyagangazpererabotka's gas compressing process in Nyagan, Western Siberia, Russia. Accurate and efficient solutions will enable the plant to save electricity in gas compression.

The order was included in Valmet's third quarter 2017 orders received. The new control solution will be started up in July 2018.

"We have worked with Valmet since 2005 when we acquired the first control system for our plant. We know Valmet DNA is a very reliable solution," says Egor Chernomorchenko, Chief Metrologist of the Nyagangazpererabotka gas processing plant.

"Valmet's people have always reacted quickly and helped us solve difficult situations," adds Alexey Biketov, Executive Director of the plant.

"In this pilot project at the gas processing plant, the target is to increase plant output while reducing the cost of electricity consumed," says Petr Antipenkov, Key Account Manager, Russia, Automation, Valmet.

Control based on proprietary methodology

Valmet will supply new anti-surge control and load-sharing applications for the plant's eight gas compressor machines. The new control will be integrated with the existing Valmet DNA automation system, enabling better performance and energy savings.

As a DNA application, Valmet's anti-surge control has proven high protection, reliability and efficiency at several gas processing plants, e-drive and gas turbine compressor stations. It has been developed using Valmet's proprietary methodology for calculating the properties of associated petroleum gas and the efficiency of gas compressors based on the online solution of the Equation of State.
