Valmet to deliver boiler plant to Raahen Voima

Valmet will supply a boiler plant to Raahen Voima, located in Raahe, Finland. The value of the order is around EUR 30 million. The order is included in Valmet's second quarter 2014 orders received.
Valmet's delivery is part of Raahen Voima's EUR 121 million investment to renew the power plant at the Raahe steel works.
The boiler plant with a steam capacity of 141 megawatts (MW) will be built adjacent to Ruukki's Raahe steel works and will partially replace an existing power plant. The new plant will use blast furnace gas and coke gas from the steel works as its fuel. Continuous incineration is required in order to secure uninterrupted steel production. Secondary fuels used in the new plant will be propane or natural gas and light fuel oil.
The boiler plant is designed to meet the lowest possible environmental impacts, and the technology meets the limits set out in the EU's new Industrial Emissions Directive. Special attention is also paid to the fuel flexibility required by the process changes of the steel works.
