Valmet Corporation today opened a Remote Diagnostics Center in Jyväskylä specialized in the condition and process monitoring of pulp and paper production lines. The Center, utilizing latest applications of information technology, allows a quick analysis and solution of problem situations in production lines. The Center consists of a control room and associated support functions. The service is part of Metso's Future Care customer care concept.

In the initial stage, the Remote Diagnostics Center will offer problem solving and instant analysis assistance to contract customers. In conjunction with service agreements, the Center will also be a channel of systematic data collection and analysis. The services of the Remote Diagnostics Center may include condition monitoring and maintenance systems as well as production management and process information systems. In addition to customer mill systems, the Center can also be connected to customer's or Valmet's measuring equipment. Video connection and mobile technology allow the transfer of video or still images.

Advances in wireless data transfer will in the future open up opportunities for the development of new applications as part of the Center's services. Special attention has been paid to data integrity solutions of the Center.
