At the ATIP Congress & Exhibition in Bordeaux on October 17-19, 2000, the Valmet HC Ozone bleaching process has been granted the "Prix Spécial du Jury" in the ATIP Innovation Contest.

The high concentration ozone bleaching process is applicable to both ECF and TCF fiberlines. It allows consequent savings in chlorine dioxyde consumption and thus contributes to improving bleaching economy and environmental protection. Several mills have already chosen this process : Union Camp Franklin (US), Consolidated Papers Wisconsin (US), Östrand (Sweden), Rosenthal (Germany) and recently Cellardennes (Belgium).

More than 15 "innovations" – new and innovating solutions and processes – competed this year for the Award that was created in 1995. This is the second time Valmet is awarded an ATIP Innovation prize. In 1998 the IQTension, a non-scanning web tension profile measurement from Valmet Automation, was awarded.
