The board machine PM 1 of Cheng Loong Corporation's Ta-Yuan mill in Taiwan has been successfully started up on October 3, 2008 after a headbox rebuild. The delivery included a new ValFlo headbox for the top ply, relocation of the existing headbox, approach flow systems and system engineering. The main target of the rebuild was to improve the quality and the cross direction profiles of the board produced.

In the shutdown the machine's existing headbox was replaced with a ValFlo hydraulic headbox, which is especially suitable for headbox rebuilds. The basic features of a ValFlo headbox are uniform stock distribution across the entire width of the machine, as well as easy adjustment of the slice jet velocity and direction during machine operation. The Ta-Yuan PM 1 produces jute liner in a basis weight range of 125-270 gsm. The machine has a wire width of 5.2 m and a design speed of 850 m/min.
