The Rottneros Group has chosen Metso Paper to supply a new market pulp line for the Utansjö mill in Sweden. The plant will manufacture CTMP (chemi-thermomechanical pulp) from hardwood with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons. The start-up is scheduled for March 2005. The value of the order is over EUR 10 million.

Metso Paper's delivery consists of process machinery, process engineering, training, erection and start-up of the CTMP line. This is the third CTMP line delivery from Metso Paper to Rottneros.

Rottneros and Metso Paper have a close co-operation program to develop new targets and standards for CTMP pulp, which is known to have the highest bulk at any given brightness.

According to the Utansjö mill, the Metso CTMP process was an optimal solution to meet with their new demanding customer requirements. The support from Metso Paper in Sundsvall was important, too.

The Rottneros Group is a non-integrated market pulp company and a leading producer of CTMP. The Group includes the parent company Rottneros AB, five pulp mills in Sweden and Spain, a sawmill as well as raw materials purchasing companies in Latvia and Portugal.
