Metso Paper will supply a coating machine rebuild to the BM 1 line at Iggesunds Bruk pulp and paper mill in Sweden. The rebuilt line will be started up at the end of the year 2004.

The rebuilding of the board machine includes a ValCoat coating station with an infrared drying unit, two PowerDry Classic air dryers, a cooling/heating cylinder group, an air system for the drying section with auxiliary equipment. The erection supervising and start-up assistance are also included in the scope.

The rebuilt line will be capable to produce highest quality triple-coated solid bleached board (SBB) for consumer packages, with basis weights of 160 to 380 g/m². The coat weight range of the ValCoat station can be adjusted between 7 and 14 g/m². The web width on the coater is 4016 mm and the maximum machine speed 600m/min.

Metso Paper has sold almost 30 ValCoat coating stations for fine paper and coated board applications during the last three-year period, which proves the quality and capacity potential of the new ValCoat coating technology.

Iggesunds Bruk belongs to Iggesund Paperboard which is regarded as quality leader of SBB board. Iggesund Paperboard has a total annual paperboard capacity of about 525.000 tons produced in Iggesunds Bruk mill (300.000 tons) and in Workington mill in the UK (225.000 tons).
