Metso Paper launches one-stop roll service concept at its Cernay facility

Metso Paper Service SAS launched the new one-stop roll service concept at its service technology center in Cernay, France, on Wednesday, 19 September. The event was attended by 200 guests representing French, Italian and German pulp and papermakers and Metso Paper experts.

Metso Paper Service SAS became part of Metso Corporation following the acquisition of certain business assets of Beloit Corporation in spring 2000. Since the acquisition, the company's roll service capabilities have been systematically developed by, for example, including new cover types in its product range. Metso Paper's whole roll service expertise, from spare rolls to tailored roll service agreements, is now available through Metso Paper Service SAS.

The latest addition to the Cernay service technology center's capability consists of roll overhauls and related service. Today, it is possible to handle and test-run in Cernay even the biggest rolls on the market, up to 14 meters and 115 tons. Within two years, the company will have all the necessary expertise and equipment to perform even the most demanding press roll modernizations.

The launch of the one-stop roll service concept in Cernay significantly improves Metso Paper's roll service capability in the European market area. Today, Metso Paper Service SAS employs 128 persons. Metso Paper's other roll service centers in Central Europe are located in Pfungstadt, Germany and in Como, Italy.
