Metso launches new Advantage DCT 100 Tissue Machine for entry-level sector

Metso Paper, the world leader in tissue making machines, is now launching a new low-cost concept for tissue machines. Named the Advantage DCT100, the unit is designed specifically for entry-level situations requiring an output of 70-75 tons per day. This provides an economical alternative for companies that want to add tissue making capacity at minimal capital cost and risk.

The entry-level sector is the key target for the new Advantage 100 DCT concept. Specifically, it is well suited for emerging markets such as China, Eastern Europe and South America which have enormous growth potential. Therefore a smaller incremental tonnage and price tag offers major advantages for companies entering tissue markets in these regions.

Design and engineering were the most challenging part of the project, which has been under development in Karlstad, Sweden and Gorizia, Italy, for more than a year. As a basic premise for simplifying things, the machine is designed to run at a top former speed of 1,600 m/min. Thus it is not ‘over-engineered’ but built for a steady performance at a mid-level speed. By doing so, numerous components of the machine, including framing and rolls, can be lightened up for cost savings.

The basic design of the Advantage DCT100 is a 2.7 m wide crescent former unit with a 12 foot yankee dryer. The machinery is shipped in modular sections for easy erection on site and simplified civil engineering.

The Advantage DCT 100 – Basic facts:

Configuration: Conventional crescent former Daily output: 70-75 tpd Max speed: 1600 mpm Sheet width: 2.65 - 2.85 m Yankee: 12 foot Hood: integrated burner, or 1 or 2 external burners as option Grammage range:12 - 40 gsm

- Shipping in modular sections for easy erection on site. - Simplified civil engineering. - Simplified and compact stock preparation department.
